Mogwai Studio is the house of Ben Speets, multi-disciplinary designer, illustrator and webdeveloper based near Amsterdam.
First and foremost I'm a designer. Over time I developed an immense passion for all things coding. I like to make things as functional as they are beautiful, and I aim to have full creative control over the final outcome. I strive to, in unison with the client- create something that exceeds all expectations.
The name Mogwai comes from one of the creatures featured in the classic Gremlins. Literal translation is "Evil Spirit" in Cantonese; believed to be mischievous but benign spirits inspiring creativity and good luck. As an artist and designer, I'm compelled to the dark and seek in my approach to express that sense of self. I am Mogwai.
