The Blumcollection is a concept that aims to present beautifully curated collections of art to a general audience. Odette designed several conceptual 'moods'; which are small individual collections of art pieces that stitch beautifully together to make a specific ambiance. The website had to be as dynamic as the concept itself. This posed challenges since in essence it still had to function as an ecommerce platform. The result was a website that still captured Odette's vision perfectly without disregarding the business aspect.
Part of the strategy was to bring the objects to life. To achieve that I dived into the physics of real life motion and color. Everything is orientated to empower and highlight the object's shape, colour and real-world surface. Browsing the moods and the corresponding objects would have the entire website act as an ambilight; adjusting to the visual and its ambiance.
To visualise the moods (collections) I designed square moodboards with the primary objects and images. Scrolling down would glide you through the different moods with different speeds (Locomotive) to make them stand out from one another.
The mobile experience needed to be just as optimised as it was desktops. Subtle design, animations and large images made for a immersive and captivating UX, even on the smallest of smartphones.
